The One America 500 Festival Mini Marathon takes place every May in the same week as the iconic Indy 500 car race in Indianapolis, Indiana. Open for all to participate, this race provides an excellent way for runners to enjoy the race festivities and participate in a widely-popular distance run.

Total Distance in a Mini Marathon

A mini marathon spans exactly half the distance of a regular marathon, which is 13.1 miles. The course of the Indianapolis mini marathon wraps these 13.1 miles throughout the city and out to the neighboring town of Speedway. In Speedway, racers take a lap around the Indianapolis 500 race track.

The race also features entertainment sprinkled along the 13.1 miles. Bands and radio stations play music to help motivate and encourage runners. Volunteers also line the route with sports drinks and water. Because the race winds through an urban area, many local residents also yell encouraging words from their houses and apartments to the runners as they pass by. These features make the Indianapolis Mini Marathon a festive race with a fun atmosphere.
