In the past couple years the Nashville music scene has seen the emergence of many young talented artists, including Jimmy Wayne. He has, however, set himself apart and gained the reputation of being a singer’s singer by delivering every performance with the kind of passion and personality that makes him instantly recognizable as an artist.
Jimmy Wayne's Early Years
The road to country stardom for Jimmy was not an easy one. He was born Jimmy Wayne Barber on October 23, 1972 in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. When he was just a toddler his father, a musician who played guitar, piano and harmonica, left the family. His mother, despite the hardships in her life loved to sing and encouraged Jimmy to join the choir where she sang at church. When he was nine his life changed for the worse when his mother got married.
"He would take the food stamps and sell them to buy drugs" he said about his step father, "All my sister and I had to eat was our free lunch at school. Sometimes, we wouldn’t have eaten since Friday, and by Sunday I was so hungry I couldn’t stand it." [1]
